Super Gran Attacks Jewellery Thieves in Northampton
Yesterday at 9:30am Michael Jones Jewellers in Northampton was the target for a planned robbery. Six men on three Scooters attempted to smash their way into the Jewellers using sledgehammers. Some of the reinforced glass gave way and one of the robbers managed to extract Rolex Watches from the window display.
What happened next was like something out of a movie, a Local Northampton Super Gran attacks the robbers with her hand bag.
She later stated to the Chronicle & Echo:
“When I got closer to them I realised it was a robbery and then I was even more angry that they felt they could get away with what they were doing in broad daylight. One of the gang shot off down Gold Street on a scooter and nearly hit a woman and baby in her buggy.
“I clobbered him with my shopping but he got away.”
“The rest of them were still trying to smash and grab at the jewellery.”
“I didn’t know what happened next but I just kept swinging my bag.”
“They then tried to escape, I landed several blows against one lad on the back of a bike and brought him to the ground.”
The robbers left the scene empty handed in the end after being interrupted by the unlikely vigilante, leaving behind three sledgehammers, bolt cutters and the green scooter. Northamptonshire Police arrested four men of 18, 25 and 39 at the train station and another aged 22 in Lower Bath Street.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police appealed for witnesses and said: “Both were wearing crash helmets after arriving at the scene on a motorbike.
“The six offenders arrived at the shop on three motorbikes and attempted to smash the windows of the shop with sledgehammers.
“The offenders were disturbed by members of the public and fled the area without taking anything. One of the offenders was detained by members of the public.
“The other three men were arrested by police a short time later.”
“No one was injured.”

Well done that wonderful lady, I’d love to shake her by the hand. I absolutely loved the way she came tearing up to the scene and laid into the scum. I sat here chuckling to myself and thank God she didn’t get hurt. I think at the very least she deserves a huge bunch of flowers from the jewellers. What a hero!
