Steffans Big Bang
If you are a fan of Steffan’s Jewellers you will probably notice that every year we produce an online viral competition that leads right up til Christmas Eve.
The Steffan’s Big Bang is our latest offering. Set to the soundtrack of Rossini’s William Tell Overture, users are asked to enter their details then light a fuse to record their Big Bang time. All entries are stored to a database and one winner is selected at random everyday where they will receive a Steffan’s Big Bang Bracelet. All lucky daily winners are also automatically entered into Steffan’s £2500 Big Bang Giveaway on Christmas Eve 2011.
The competition was a real test for our flash designers. We needed to turn cursors into lit matches, produce explosions that would rip through the screen to display the time of detonation and integrate action scripts that would trigger the viral HTML emails.
The competition was also supported by DPS adverts that ran in most major midland publications.
The competition is now closed but you can still have ago. Click here to play.

Top Jewellery website reported on the competitions early success:
Professional Jeweller reported that a promotion on the Steffans.co.uk web site designed to drum up interest in the run up to Christmas has attracted more than 10,000 entrants according to the company’s owner Steffan Suter.
The Big Bang promotion, which launched in October 1, is giving away a crystal bead bracelet every day in return for a name, e-mail address and a friend’s e-mail address. Each day’s winner is entered into an additional prize draw for a £2,500 voucher to spend in Steffans.
“It has been an incredible success,” Suter told Professional Jeweller. “We had 500 people sign up on the first day, and it has been non-stop ever since.”
